Brazilian steakhouse Rodizio Grill to make AZ debut at Mesa’s Dana Park

Rodizio Grill, which bills itself as ‘‘America’s First Brazilian Steakhouse,’’ will make its Arizona debut on the southwest corner of U.S. 60 and Val Vista in Mesa.

The Denver-based, all-you-can-eat concept takes over the 6,900-square-foot building that formerly housed TQLA at Village Square at Dana Park. TQLA closed last month.

“Over the past 20 years, the No. 1 market request from guests has been from the Phoenix metropolitan area,” says Ivan Utrera, who founded Rodizio Grill in 1995. “We’re perfectly delighted to finally realize that dream.”

Rodizio Grill features skewers of rotisserie-grilled meat – beef, poultry, pork, lamb, and seafood – carved tableside by traditionally dressed gauchos (South American cowboys).

The menu also offers a gourmet salad bar, fresh fruits and vegetables, and side dishes like pão de queijo (Brazlian cheese bread).

The bar’s signature drink is caipirinha, Brazil’s national cocktail, made with cachaça, sugar, and lime.

Look for a November opening.
