Hot Noodles Cold Sake, one of the fall’s most-anticipated new restaurants, opens today in north Scottsdale, taking over the former Philly’s & Fries on the southwest corner of the 101 and Frank Lloyd Wright.
The concept is a spinoff of owner-chef Josh Hebert‘s popular Tuesday Night Ramen pop-ups at his improvisational restaurant, Posh, also in Scottsdale.
Five kinds of ramen ($9 for lunch, $13 for dinner after 2:30 p.m.) are available:
- Goma (house specialty): Char-Siu pork and broth, bok choy, Fresno and shishito pepper, and sesame seeds (pictured)
- Shoyu: Char-Siu pork and broth, naruto, soy-cured egg, and marinated bamboo
- Miso: Char-Siu pork and broth, sweet corn, carrots, and butter
- Shrimp: Seafood broth, shrimp, bay scallops, and calamari
- Vegan: Mushroom base, bok choy, and mushrooms
All ramens have nori, bonito, leeks, bean sprouts, and scallions.
Beside the namesake sake, the ramen shop also serves Japanese beers.
A $12 lunch special includes a lunch bowl, a small edamame, and a soda. An $18 dinner special includes a dinner bowl, small gyoza (3), and a Kirin or Kirin Light beer. You can upgrade to house sake for $4.
Hours are 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Happy hour is 4-6 p.m. Monday-Friday.
