After some ‘‘practice’’ sessions with friends and family over the weekend, Nicantoni’s Pizza reopened today at its new home in Gilbert.
The pizzeria closed last month on the northeast corner of McQueen and Warner, where it had spent the last 13 years.
Its new home is about 2.5 miles to the east in the country-themed JD’s Homestead center on Gilbert Road, about halfway between Elliot and Warner.
The space most recently was home to the short-lived MJaye’s. Other previous occupants included The Groves Bar & Grill and Old World Pizza Kitchen.
At approximately 2,300 square feet, the new space is about 300 square feet larger than Nicantoni’s previous space.
It also has a larger bar – with 12 beers on tap instead of just six – and a huge tree-lined patio in the back.
AÂ stone wall, black granite tables, and new wood flooring create a more polished setting than the old location, which had purple walls and different colored booths.
The menu still offers the same New York-style pizzas and pasta dishes that have made Nicantoni’s so popular.
Some new additions include bruschetta ($15) and meat and cheese boards ($17).
Nicantoni’s opens at 11 a.m. daily. Closing hours haven’t been determined.
