Fast-casual Fresko Mediterranean Kitchen opens today in Ahwatukee

Fresko Mediterranean Kitchen, a new fast-casual Greek concept, opens at 11 a.m. today on the southwest corner of 51st Street and Elliot in Ahwatukee.

The restaurant is the brainchild of former Thirsty Lion executive chef Kody Harris, whose given name is Kynthos Kostandinos Haralampus.

“Fresko is the restaurant I’ve always wanted, from top to bottom,” Harris says. “Fresko translates to ‘fresh,’ and that’s exactly what we offer in this kitchen. Great food doesn’t have to be unhealthy food.”

The menu features Greek classics like avgolemono (egg-lemon soup), keftedes (fried meatballs), souvlaki (skewered meats), moussaka (aka “Greek lasagna”), and baklava (nutty pastry).

The restaurant doesn’t serve alcohol, but has a BYOB license so patrons can bring their own beer, wine and spirits.

The restaurant’s interior has reclaimed barn wood on the walls, intricate tile work, and a countryside vibe.

Fresko is 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day.
