Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers opens new Gilbert location at 3 p.m. today

After weeks of anticipation, Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers finally opens its new Gilbert location to the public at 3 p.m. today.

The Scottsdale-based concept has taken over the former Tailgaters Grill, which closed in February, on the northwest corner of Higley and Queen Creek.

CBCB’s menu boasts 21 half-pound specialty burgers (you also can build your own) and 40 beers on tap. Although burgers are its namesake, CBCB also has sandwiches, hot dogs, wings, and more.

It’s the chain’s second location in the East Valley, joining one that opened in Chandler in early 2015.

CBCB now has six locations overall – including one in San Diego – with two others scheduled to open in Phoenix and Glendale in early 2017.

The Gilbert location, which introduced itself to the neighborhood last Wednesday by giving away 500 free burgers, was first reported by MXSW in September (story).

At the time, owners said renovations would take place in two stages. Cosmetic work would be done for a December opening. Roll-up garage doors and a new patio will be installed this summer.

The Gilbert location will be open 3 p.m.-close (to be determined by customer traffic, but probably 9 p.m.-ish) through Christmas Eve. It will be closed Christmas Day.

It will begin its regular hours of 11 a.m.-close daily starting on Monday.
