Helio Basin Brewing in east Phoenix will celebrate its first anniversary at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, with a special beer tapping, a pig roast, and live music.
The beer is being called a ‘‘Southwest IPA’’ named Lord Rupert Everton (6.4% ABV, 22 IBUs). Helio’s plan is to release an anniversary beer every year featuring a different experimental hop.
Several Helio seasonals from the past year – Bee’s Knees Belgian Blonde, Autumn Oak Nut Brown, Kohi Imperial Coffee Stout, Throwback Triple Double DIPA, Blue Line Blonde, and Jam Sesh Session IPA – also will be tapped.
Admission to the anniversary party is free. There’s a VIP admission available for $50, which includes early access to beers, the pig roast, a tour with the brewery owner, and a commemorative glass.
Doors will open as usual at 11 a.m., and the regular menu will be served noon-4 p.m. The VIP hour and tour will take place from 5-6 p.m.
After 6 p.m., the pig roast will be the only food available.
An anniversary toast and free cake (while it lasts) will take place at 8 p.m.
