The Hungry Monk in Chandler celebrates its seventh anniversary – also its annual Customer Appreciation Day – from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday with a special beer tapping, food and drink specials, and prize raffles.
The restaurant and bar actually opened in 2008 as a Buffalo Wings & Rings franchise, but a dispute with the corporate office over the number of beer taps led owners Jim and Carol Lolli to rename the venue and go independent in 2010.
The Monk quickly established itself as one of the top craft beer destinations in the Valley and a champion of Arizona’s fledgling craft beer scene.
Saturday’s special tapping will be Monkiversary, a seven-hop IPA the Monk staff brewed in collaboration with The Perch in Chandler. All proceeds from the kegs will go to the Boys and Girls Club of the East Valley.
Food specials will include $2 pork sliders, $2.50 tri-tip sliders, and 50-cent bone-in or boneless wings (see food specials).
Drink specials will include $3 pints of always-on beers, $4 house wine and sangria, and $5 pints of Monkiversary (see drink specials).
Besides Monkiversary and always-on house favorites, the day’s tap list will feature:
- Deschutes Abyss 2016
- Alesmith 2015 Decadence
- Lost Abbey Serpent Stout
- Smuttynose Stallion (red wine barrel aged stout)

There will be Lolli toasts at 1, 3, 5, and 7Â p.m. Raffle giveaways will run between 4 and 7:30. You do not have to be present to win.
