Po Chicken, a small, casual eatery specializing in Korean fried chicken and porridges, has opened on the southeast corner of Dobson and Main in Mesa.
Unlike American fried chicken, the Korean version has a thinner, smoother, crunchier skin. Po Chicken offers three varieties – traditional crispy, sweet and spicy, and seasoned soy-garlic – as well as a couple kinds of Korean braised chicken.
Whole chickens start at $15.99, and you can order half-and-half. Wings (pictured) start at $8.99 for seven.
A few other East Valley restaurants sell Korean fried chicken – GOGI, Koreatown, and Drunken Tiger, all in Po Chicken’s vicinity, come to mind – but don’t have so many options.
In addition, Po Chicken boasts more than two dozen Korean porridges (hearty soups), including squash, mung bean, pine nut, vegetable beef, crab, abalone, and, of course, chicken, starting at $7.99 for a large bowl.
Po Chicken is open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. every day except Mondays.
