Major League Baseball kicks off the real season Thursday, March 29, with a slate of 14 games, and The Hungry Monk in Chandler will have a variety of food specials (starting at 11 a.m.) to keep you going all day:
- Dirty Bastard coney dog: Quarter-pound all-beef hot dog topped with housemade Dirty Bastard coney sauce, yellow mustard, diced onion and sered with a choice of side ($6).
- Beer brat: Beer-boiled bratwurst served with beer-braised onions and/or kraut and choice of side ($6).
- Arizona roasted corn: Fresh corn on the cob grilled to order with house mayo, chili powder and cotija cheese ($4).
- Tiger tots: Tatere tots topped with coney sauce, bacon, and shredded cheese ($7).
- Dessert tostada: Deep-fried corn tortilla topped with Udder Delights Mexican chocolate ice cream, strawberry salsa, whipped cream, and cinnamon sugar ($6).
Monk owner Jim Lolli is a Michigan native, so the doors will open early at 10 a.m. for the Detroit Tigers game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Other popular teams in early games Thursday include the Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, and New York Yankees.
The Arizona Diamondbacks will start their 2018 campaign against the Colorado Rockies at 7:10 p.m.
