The Hungry Monk in Chandler will get an early jump on 4/20 celebrations with a tapping of The Waldos’ Special Ale at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 18.
The seasonal double IPA from northern California’s Lagunitas Brewing pays tribute to the supposed founders – either two brothers whose last name was Waldo, or a small group of students called The Waldos, depending on which legend you believe – of the marijuana-themed 4/20 holiday.
The limited-release beer (11.3% ABV, 100-plus IBUs) typically is tapped by bars at 4:20 p.m. on April 20.
The Monk will tap its keg during a Lagunitas happy hour Wednesday that also will feature the brewery’s IPA, Imperial Stout, Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ pale wheat ale, and a special keg of rum-barrel-aged Brown Shugga’ American strong ale.
