The Ahwatukee location of Los Dos Molinos, which had been operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection since last year, has closed.
The troubled location, part of an extended family-owned chain specializing in New Mexican cuisine, posted a notice on its door last week indicating it would be closed for a day due to a family emergency. It hadn’t reopened since.
According to the message on the restaurant’s answering machine, ‘‘We are in the process of relocating. … We are going to pop up again somewhere, very soon, very close by.’’
The Ahwatukee location opened on the southeast corner of 40th Street and Chandler Boulevard (pictured) in 2011, and later moved to the southeast corner of 48th Street and Warner.
The original Los Dos Molinos in Springerville in northeast Arizona also closed recently.
The bankruptcy and closure do not affect the restaurant’s three other Valley locations – one on Mesa and two in Phoenix – which have different owners.
