If the crowds for the past few days of ‘‘practice sessions’’ are any indication, OHSO Gilbert immediately will become one of downtown Gilbert’s marquee destinations when the doors open to the public at 11 a.m. today.
The 10,000-square-foot restaurant and brewery features indoor and outdoor bars, a kid- and dog-friendly grassy play area, a second-story brewhouse, and another restaurant within the restaurant.
The location is OHSO’s fourth in the Valley, joining the original in Arcadia and others in Paradise Valley and Scottsdale. (There’s also a licensed mini version in Terminal 2 at Sky Harbor Airport not run by OHSO.)
The food menu is the same as other OHSO locations.
Besides salads, sandwiches, and burgers, the lunch/dinner menu offers such entrees as beef brisket mac ’n’ cheese (pictured above), beer-braised short ribs, a green chile pork skillet (pictured below), and four different taco plates.
The weekend brunch menu includes Fruity Pebble French toast, chicken and waffles, biscuits and beer gravy, and avocado toast.
The 36 beers on tap include 12 brewed by OHSO (at another location), 16Â from other Arizona breweries, and seven from out of state.
The 10-barrel brewing system on the building’s second floor was moved from OHSO Paradise Valley, which is expanding to a new 20-barrel system.
The Gilbert brewing system is expected to be operational in May.
The Novelist is a second restaurant within the walls of OHSO. It has its own menu of slightly more sophisticated fare.
The restaurant also opens today, although it will undergo a soft opening with a limited menu.
Look for the entrance to The Novelist on a two-story wall of beer kegs (pictured).
OHSO Gilbert is open 11 a.m.-midnight Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-13:30 a.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-1:30 a.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m.-midnight Sunday.
Happy hour is 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily and features $7 glasses of wine, $7 cocktails, and $7 pitchers of beer.
The brunch menu is available 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
