The official grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, May 19, but barring any last-minute glitches Las Palmas Cantina will hold a soft opening at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, in downtown Chandler.
The latest concept from East Valley restaurateur Julian Wright takes over the former Vintage 95Â building on Boston Street, a block west of Arizona Avenue.
As its name suggests, Las Palmas offers a menu specializing in Mexican street-style seafood, although there also are several non-seafood options.
The bar will have several specialty cocktails, as well as several beers from Wright’s Pedal Haus Brewery in downtown Tempe.

The building has undergone extensive renovations since Wright bought Vintage 95 and closed it in April 2017.
The entrance has been moved from the north side to the west side to accommodate a long sidewalk patio with booths (pictured above) along Boston. The sidewalk patio along Oregon has been removed.
Roll-up garage-style doors have been installed on the north and south sides, the latter opening up to the back courtyard patio (which looks like it’s still being remodeled).
Inside, the space has been opened up and features four-person tables with bright white chairs. The bar (pictured) has been moved from the east wall to the west wall.
Las Palmas Cantina will open at 4 p.m. daily.
