QuartHaus, a beer and wine bar that eventually plans to brew its own beers and distill its own spirits, has opened in downtown Chandler.
The stand-alone block building is part of a gated half-acre complex on the southeast corner of Washington and Chicago, near the police station and courthouse.
That’s one block east of Arizona Avenue, as opposed to the west side where most of downtown’s popular restaurants and bars are located.
QuartHaus’ square bar – with a red top and matching red chairs – offers 25 craft beers (mostly from Arizona) and eight wines (four red, three white, and a rose) on tap.
The other half of the 3,000-square-old building will house the brewing system, which hasn’t been fully installed yet.
QuartHaus also has quite a bit of outdoor seating, plus grass and gravel areas for games and a full-length basketball court.
A patio fire pit and water feature will be added later this year.
The final element in the complex, an urban grocery store called Civic Market, is expected to open this fall.
QuartHaus doesn’t have a kitchen, but Civic Market will sell slices of pizza.
QuartHaus opens at 3 p.m. daily. Parking is available on the street and in the parking garage directly across the street.
Happy hour is 3-7 p.m. with $4 craft beers and $5 glasses of Arizona’s Provisioner wine.
