Ruby Tuesday, the Tennessee-based chain of casual-dining restaurants, has closed its location at SanTan Village Marketplace in Gilbert.

The restaurant, in front of the Walmart Supercenter and Sam’s Club on the southwest corner of the Loop 202 and Williams Field, opened in 2008.

According to employees, the restaurant closed without warning and management said the building had been sold.

The Gilbert closure leaves just one other Ruby Tuesday in the East Valley – at Tempe Marketplace – plus one in east Phoenix and another in Avondale.

In August 2016, Ruby Tuesday announced the closure of nearly 100 locations, citing poor sales.

The chain still operates more than 700 restaurants nationwide.
