Rudy’s Country Store & Bar-B-Q opens 2nd East Valley location today in Gilbert

Texas-based Rudy’s Country Store & Bar-B-Q opens its second East Valley location today on the northeast corner of Higley and Baseline in Gilbert.

Rudy’s menu features a variety of smoked meats, including moist (fatty) and lean brisket, pork loin, pulled pork, sausage links, prime rib, baby back ribs, pork spare ribs, and turkey.

Half-pound plates mostly range from $5.49-$8.49 ($12.99 for prime rib), and sandwiches are $5.99.

Rudy’s was founded in 1929 in Leon Springs (now part of San Antonio). Part gas station, part grocery store, it began serving meats smoked over oak instead traditional mesquite.

The chain was grown 33 locations throughout Texas and expanded to Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Colorado.

Rudy’s made its Arizona debut in Chandler in 2012. Its only other Arizona location is in Goodyear.

Rudy’s is open 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 7 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
