Uno Mas Cantina, a Baja-inspired burros and burgers joint, has opened on the southeast corner of Chandler Boulevard and Desert Foothills Parkway in west Ahwatukee.
The restaurant is the latest addition to the ever-busier intersection where the existing dining options already include Native Grill & Wings, Perfect Pear Bistro, Buddyz A Chicago Pizzeria, and several other restaurants.
The highlight of the Uno Mas menu is a 5-pound burrito (your choice of ground beef or chicken) served enchilada-style. It costs $25, and you win a free T-shirt if you finish it in less than 30 minutes.
Regular-size wrapped burros or bowls come filled with rice and beans ($6), ground beef ($8), chicken ($10), or carne asada ($10). Tacos are $6-$8 per pair.
There are three half-pound specialty burgers – green chile, jalapeno spicy cheese, and chorizo – and a green chile sandwich (all $10).
Happy hour, which is 3-7 p.m. daily, offers $5 appetizers, including Uno Mas Jo Jo Fries (c0vered with cheese and carne asada), Southwest egg rolls, and Southwest cheese curds.
Uno Mas, which has a liquor license, lists its hours as 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Monday-Saturday.
