That was quick: Texas-based chain Bush’s Chicken has closed its Gilbert location after just 14 months in business.

Bush’s, known for its marinated fried chicken, iced tea, and multi-lane drive-throughs serviced by carhops, opened on the southeast corner of Val Vista and Williams Field in May 2017.

The restaurant’s Facebook page makes no mention of the closure.

Bush’s launched in 1996 and over the next two decades grew to 70-plus locations, all in Texas.

In 2016, it announced an aggressive franchising plan to add another 25, including its first out-of-state locations in Arizona and Colorado.

The Valley franchisees still operate two Bush’s locations in the Valley – one in west Phoenix and the other in Glendale.
