La Ristra New Mexican Kitchen in Gilbert is accepting orders now for its sixth annual Hatch Chile Sale on Sept. 7-8.
The restaurant’s staff makes a trip to Hatch, N.M., at the end of every summer to buy a yearly supply of Hatch chiles, which it then roasts in the parking lot during a two-day party.
You can add your own order to La Ristra’s. Peppers are $50 for a 40-pound sack or $90 for two sacks, and are available in medium, hot, and extra hot.
After roasting, a 40-pound sack will yield around 25 pounds of peppers.
Peppers must be ordered in advance, and must be picked up at the restaurant Sept. 7-8 or your order will be forfeited without a refund.
