Las Palmas Cantina, which opened in mid-May in downtown Chandler, already is getting a makeover. The tropical Mexican bar and wood-fired grill is closing for most of the next 10 days for renovations.
Although the interior and kitchen will be closed, the patio will open at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday for all-night happy hour.
The most obvious changes in the works are moving the restaurant’s entrance and rearranging the furniture. The interior will get ‘‘a bit’’ of redecorating, owner Julian Wright says, and more high-top tables will be added.
In addition, Wright promises changes to the food and bar menus, ‘‘going more casual across the board.’’ That means more of the tacos that diners have been asking for. A boozy weekend brunch will be rolled out in a couple of weeks.
Las Palmas isn’t the first Wright venue to get a makeover not that long after its launch. In 2016, his 10-month-old Pedal Haus Brewery in downtown Tempe closed for more than three months for a complete remodeling.
Las Palmas’ makeover isn’t anywhere near that major. Wright plans to re-open Thursday, Aug. 23.
