5 to try: Beer breakfasts at East Valley breweries

The Perch Brewery

Downtown Chandler
9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday-Sunday

It’s hard to imagine a more picturesque brunch spot than the brewery’s lush courtyard surrounded by exotic birds. A half-dozen skillets – such as The Perch with pork shank, pork belly sausage, poblano hash, and jalapeño marmalade – will satisfy almost any appetite, but the signature breakfast item is the calzone with ham, scrambled eggs, hollandaise, feta, mushrooms, and spinach. Flying Basset Brewing

Cooper & Ray, Gilbert
8-11 a.m. Saturday-Sunday

Nachos aren’t just for happy hour, especially when smothered with scrambled eggs, bacon, cheddar and jack cheese, and sausage gravy. The Basset Benedict has two poached eggs with your choice of turkey, ham, or sausage. And don’t miss the pancakes made with spent grain – it is a brewery, after all. Drink specials include $1 mimosas, $5 Bloody Mary’s, and $5 mules. (menu | map)

OHSO Brewery

Downtown Gilbert
9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday-Sunday

Start with an order of chocolate-drizzled donut holes, then decide on a sweet or savory route. The former includes Fruity Pebbles French toast; the latter, biscuits with a spicy sausage and beer gravy. Or combine sweet and savory with an OHSO Monte Cristo or the chicken and waffles with spicy maple syrup. Best of all, every brunch entree comes with an Arizona beer or mimosa. (menu | map)

SanTan Brewing

Downtown Chandler
6 a.m.-10:45 a.m. Friday-Sunday

SanTan focuses on ‘‘Southwestern-style’’ ales and treats breakfast no differently. The breakfast menu includes New Mexican skillets, huevos rancheros, pork carnitas enchiladas and eggs, a breakfast pizza with green chile cream sauce, and chicken and waffles with green chile gravy and agave syrup (pictured above). Pair your dish with a chipotle bacon Bloody Mary or a hefeweizen mimosa. (menu | map)

Four Peaks Brewing

Dorsey & Eighth St., Tempe
9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday-Sunday

Chilaquiles and carnitas Benedict lend a distinctive south-of-the-border flavor to the menu, which also offers green chile pork poutine and Arizona chicken rolls with a sweet jalapeño sauce. The warhorse, however, is the Brewer’s Breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, and a jalapeño cheddar biscuit. The Peach Ale does triple duty in mimosas, bellinis, and sangria.
