SunUp Brewing in Phoenix will hold its four-course Oktoberfest beer dinner at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21.
The menu and beer pairings:
- Reception beer: Copper Dome Pilsner
- Appetizer: Slow-roasted pot roast on Yukon gold potato round with traditional obatzda (German cheese and beer spread) garnished with carrot flower. Paired with Oktoberfest.
- Salad: Arugula, red dandelion greens, and baby spinach topped with pickled cucumber, sautéed pearl onions, beet crisps, and a caraway vinaigrette. Paired with Horizon Hefeweizen.
- Entrée: Fleischkäse (traditional German meatloaf made with beef and pork) grilled with marjoram butter, Oktoberfest demi, Kartoffelpuffer (German potato cake), and sautéed purple brussels sprout leaves. Paired with Wallop Land Bier.
- Dessert: Trio with bee sting cake, Zwetschgenkuchen (traditional plum cake), and smoked maple and bourbon ice cream.
Paired with Lemon Pilsner.
A vegetarian menu also is available.
