SunUp Brewing in Phoenix will release two beers – more accurately, two versions of an old favorite – on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
The first is Stinger Pale Ale, which the brewery introduced 12 years ago. Like the original, it’s brewed with 100% Cascade hops, all used in the finish.
Even more interesting, the second beer is a wet-hopped version of Stinger called Hopoponic Stinger, the hops for which came from 24 Hour Hops, the only Arizona grower of hydroponic hops.
24 Hour Hops delivered the hops to the brewery just a few hours after they were harvested – and before they dry out, hence the term ‘‘wet-hopping’’ – which gives the beer a more intense hop character.
The pale ale is the second beer SunUp and 24 Hour Hops have teamed up on. A wet-hopped IPA was released a couple of weeks ago.
