Special beer release targets suicide prevention in restaurant industry

In the wake of Anthony Bourdain’s death, B2 Burgers & Brews in Chandler and OHSO Brewery in Gilbert have teamed up to create a beer to raise funds for suicide prevention in the restaurant industry.

The hazy IPA, which has been named 1-800-273-8255 (which is the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline), will be tapped at a release party from 5-10 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at B2 Burgers.

The beer will be available Thursday at several other Valley locations, including OHSO, Fat Willy’s, and Puro Cigar Bar in the East Valley.

A dollar from every pint of 1-800-273-8255 sold will be donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, but B2 Burgers and OHSO wanted to call special awareness to the food and beverage industry.

Bourdain became famous after his best-selling 2000 book ‘‘Kitchen Confidential’’ detailed the prevalence of stress, hazardous conditions, and alcohol and drug abuse among restaurant workers.
