Wow! Talk about a dining news bombshell to close out the week!

MXSW has learned Craft 64, the award-winning pizzeria and craft beer bar in Old Scottsdale, is opening a second location in downtown Chandler.

According to James Swann, one of the owners, he and his partners just signed a lease to move into the former La Stalla Rustica Cantina space across the street from the San Marcos Resort.

Like the original location, the new Craft 64 will have a scratch kitchen that sources as many local ingredients as possible and 28 beers – all local – on tap.

Craft 64 made its debut in Scottsdale in 2015, taking the unusual step of putting only Arizona beers on tap. (It now brews its own line of beers with SunUp Brewing in Phoenix as well.)

It also hired Horacio “Lachos” Hernandez, a 17-year-veteran of Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix, to man its wood-fired pizza oven.

Hernandez left after a couple of years, but Craft 64 has only gained steam, regularly earning five-star reviews from both local and national media.

The Chandler location is expected to open in late March.
