A Taste of Greece – the Valley’s twice-a-year festival featuring Greek food and drink, music and dancing, and imported goods – returns to St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Chandler this weekend.
Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
Taking center stage will be all kinds of Greek delicacies, such as dolmathes (grapevine leaves stuffed with ground beef and seasoned rice), spanakopita (filo dough filled with spinach and cheese), pastichio (Greek lasagna), and kourabiedes (shortbread-like cookies).
Greek folk dancers will perform in authentic costumes, and free dance classes will be held for festival-goers. There also will be a kids fun zone.
Shoppers can enjoy an ‘‘agora’’ marketplace with arts and crafts, Greek imports, jewelry, CDs, books, and icons.
Admission is $5 (you can get a free admission with purchase of an admission on the fest’s website); kids under 12 are free.
St. Katherine is located on Dobson south of Elliot. Free parking and shuttle bus service are available at Seton High on the northwest corner of Dobson and Ray.
