Gilbert-based Salad and Go has lowered the prices of its salads with chicken or tofu by 36 cents to $6.46 at all 14 of its Valley locations.
It’s the second price reduction as part of the drive-through salad eatery’s Lower Price Initiative, which seeks to lower the price from $7.18 in May to $5.74 by January.
The first reduction came in July – from $7.18 to $6.82.
The reductions are possible thanks to a number of efficiencies, such as no longer placing single salads in plastic bags unless requested by the customer, and increased buying power for the fast-growing chain.
‘‘We truly believe that consumers should not have to pay a premium for eating organic, ready-to-eat food,’’ Salad and Go founder Roushaun Cristofellis told MXSW in June.
The chain’s 14th location opened this week in Carefree. A 15th has been announced for the southeast corner of Gilbert and Queen Creek in south Chandler later this year or in early 2019.
