Now open: XJ’s Casa Reynoso in Gilbert

Looks like the Casa Reynoso empire has expanded to another generation: XJ’s Casa Reynoso has opened on the southeast corner of Val Vista and Ray in Gilbert.

Antonio and Roberta Reynoso brought the Mexican restaurant concept to Tempe from Globe, where it originated under Antonio’s mother, Salustia, in 1938.

Their son, Xavier, owns Xavier’s Casa Reynoso in east Mesa. Another son, Roberto, had a Chandler location that closed in 2015 and now operates the Casa Rey’s food truck.

Now Xavier’s son, Xavier Jr. (‘‘XJ’’), has a restaurant.

The menu is similar to the other Casa Reynoso locations, featuring the same 11 combination plates and several ‘‘special chili plates.’’

Beverage options include beer, wine, margaritas. and cocktails.

XJ’s Casa Reynoso is open 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 11 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
