The ninth annual Chandler Chuck Wagon Cook-Off, one of the largest chuck wagon cooking events in the Southwest, takes place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Tumbleweed Park on the southwest corner of McQueen and Germann.
Attendees will be transported back in time to watch competitors wearing period dress and using period equipment and cooking methods as if they are on an 1880s cattle drive.
The free event also features Western history, food booths, unique vendors, and live Western music.
The highlight of the day is the chuck wagon lunch served at noon. Tickets, which always sell out quickly, are $15 and go on sale on-site at 10 a.m.
Kids ages 10-15 can register for a junior campers cooking clinic at 3 p.m.
The Chandler Chuck Wagon Cook-Off is held at Tumbleweed Ranch, a 14-acre section in the southwest corner of Tumbleweed Park that is operated by the Chandler Museum and explores the East Valley’s agricultural roots.
