Osteria, an ambitious Italian restaurant that opened in March on the southeast corner of McKellips and Alta Mesa in northeast Mesa, was locked out – temporarily, it turns out – by its landlord.
Doors were locked Wednesday, and the landlord retook possession of the property and filed a lien against the owners, according to a notice (pictured) on the door.
But a call to the landlord this afternoon confirmed the restaurant now has brought its rent payments current and will be allowed back into the space.
Osteria is an Italian term for an after-work hangout that typically serves a small menu of inexpensive wine and food.
The all-day restaurant had focused on a seasonal menu of hand-crafted pasta dishes and wood-fired pizza and entrees.
According to owner Alec Golzio, though, Osteria will be unveiling a new menu. No word on what the changes might be.
