Adventurous Stills in Tempe introduces the fifth release of its quarterly Explorers Club series – a cask-aged version of its Papago rum – with a party from 1-8 p.m. Saturday.
The rum was aged in barrels that first were used for the distillery’s bourbon and then sent to Beer Research Institute in Mesa for an Irish stout.
As a result, the rum has notes of blackberry, bubble gum, and mango.
Members of the distillery’s Explorers Club are guaranteed a bottle; the rest of the limited-release bottles will be available to the public until sold out.
Adventurous Stills will celebrate the release with $5 cocktails and $3 off all bottles (except Explorer bottles) all day Saturday.
The distillery is located just west of the Loop 101 between University and Rio Salado.
