Now open: Donut Bar pairs doughnuts & craft beers in north Scottsdale

Donut Bar, a San Diego-based concept that combines a doughnut shop with a bar, has opened its first Arizona location on the southeast corner of Scottsdale Road and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard in north Scottsdale.

Donut Bar makes one large batch of about two dozen different kinds of doughnuts – from a rotating list of 60-plus – every morning. When they sell out, the bar closes until the next day (or, on weekends, until an evening session).

The award-winning signature doughnuts include such temptations as:

  • Mud Pie: Topped with chocolate fudge glaze, Oreo crumbs, peanut butter, and marshmallow drizzle.
  • Mexican Hot Chocolate Donut: Topped with Mexican hot chocolate glaze with toasted marshmallow and cinnamon.
  • Big Poppa Tart Donut: Stuffed with a Kellogg’s Pop Tart, more filling, then topped with cake batter glaze, crumbled Pop Tarts, donut sprinkles, and a fun drizzle.
  • Caramel Latte Donut: Topped with caramel latte glaze, dulce de leche drizzle, and a buttercream dollop.
  • Monte Cristo Donut: Stuffed with Black Forest ham, Swiss and American cheese, and a raspberry-cranberry compote.

To wash them down, there are eight craft beers on tap and three kinds of mimosas.

Donut Bar is open 7 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 7 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 5-10 p.m. Friday; 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 5-10 p.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m.-noon Sunday.
