Two dozen Arizona breweries are among nearly 1,300 breweries nationwide that have signed up to brew a beer to raise money for those affected by Northern California’s devastating Camp Fire.
The effort is being called the largest charitable collaboration ever among the nation’s breweries.
Ken Grossman, the founder of Northern California’s Sierra Nevada Brewing, came up with the idea of brewing the beer, which he named Resilience Butte County Proud IPA, and donating all the proceeds to the Sierra Nevada Camp Fire Relief Fund.
Grossman invited other U.S. breweries to do likewise, sharing his recipe and arranging for suppliers to donate the malt, hops, and yeast.
He hoped to get as many as 500 breweries to participate. As of this morning, the number is approaching 1,300, including these from Arizona:
- Four Peaks Brewing
- Dubina Brewing
- Wren House Brewing
- State 48 Brewery
- Scottsdale Beer Co,
- 1912 Brewing
