Top 10 E.V. restaurant openings to look forward to in early 2019

Craft 64: In what’s one the most-anticipated openings of 2019, the award-winning wood-fired pizzeria and bar (pictured), which launched in Old Town Scottsdale in 2015, is remodeling the former La Stalla Rustica Cucina space in downtown Chandler for its second location.

The Hidden House: The owners of The Brickyard Downtown are turning a bungalow, located a block behind SanTan Brewing, into a refined restaurant, patio, courtyard, and ‘‘hangar’’ for their second downtown Chandler destination.

McFate Brewing: With two popular brewpubs in Scottsdale, owner Steve McFate ventures into Tempe with a very cool-looking space next to the post office on Southern just east of Mill.

The Sicilian Butcher: The Scottsdale-based group behind Hash Kitchen is building the second location of its popular meatballs-and-pastas concept on the southwest corner of the 101 and Frye next to the Chandler Fashion Center.

The Sleepy Whale: Beer shop and tap room – a sibling to 2-year-old The Wandering Tortoise in Phoenix – is under construction on the northwest corner of Arizona and Frye in downtown Chandler.

Gadzooks Enchiladas & Soup: Sharing the corner with The Sleepy Whale will be the third location – and first in the East Valley – for this local concept that offers build-your-own-enchiladas, tacos, and soups.

Thirsty Amigo’s Taco Shop: Mexican restaurant is the latest to take on the seemingly jinxed building (formerly home to Steak & Stone, American Taphouse, BoomBozz Pizza, and Boston’s Pizza) at Gilbert Town Square.

Cherish Farm Fresh Eatery: A new healthy fast-casual concept is taking over the recently closed Sauce Pizza & Wine in the Downtown Ocotillo development on Queen Creek between Dobson and Price in south Chandler.

Mingle+Graze: Owners of a local catering business are reworking the former Wimpy’s Paradise in downtown Chandler into a concept they’re calling ‘‘a cheese bar and kitchen.’’

Ilegal Modern Cocktail Kitchen: Not much is known about this concept, which is moving into the space that originally was supposed to house Rott N’ View above The Brass Tap in downtown Gilbert.
