Coming to Scottsdale: Modern Oysterbar & Chophouse

Modern Oysterbar & Chophouse, a new steak and seafood concept, is scheduled to open by the end of this month on the southwest corner of Scottsdale and Gold Dust in Scottsdale (map).

It takes over the 6,000-square-foot space that formerly housed Sonata Restaurant, which closed in September.

The centerpiece will a large oyster bar where up to 12 diners can watch chefs in action.

The concept’s founders – Frank Schneider and Cat and Randy Frankel – have extensive restaurant backgrounds that include Steak 44, Zinc Bistro, Mary Elaine’s, Mastro’s Ocean Club, and Bourbon & Bones.

Well-known Valley mixologist Richie Moe will develop the cocktail program.
