Dark beers aren’t just for drinking in the winter, but two more hit Valley taps today:
• Uncle Bear’s Brewing in Gilbert releases its new Bird Dog Whiskey Stout (shown with UB brewers Andrew Bauman and Andrew Ortega) statewide through Young’s Market. The oak-aged stout (8.5% ABV, 35 IBUs) is a collaboration with Kentucky-based Bird Dog Whiskey.
• May The Schwartz Be With You makes its annual return to SunUp Brewing in Phoenix. The black lager (5.3% ABV, 25 IBUs) is a traditional German Schwarz Bier. The beer’s name comes from the Star Wars parody movie ‘‘Spaceballs.’’
