It looks like Kazbar in Old Town Scottsdale will continue to live on.
The iconic Kazimierz Wine Bar, which closed in October (along with its equally famous sibling, Cowboy Ciao), will reopen Thursday, Jan. 24, as Kazimierz Wine and Whiskey Bar.
The new owner is Scottsdale restaurateur Tommy Plato, founder of Gelato Spot and Second Story Liquor Bar.
Kazbar, as it commonly was known, operated for 15 years and claimed to offer more than 3,200 bottles of wine (although many never seemed to be in stock).
As the new name suggests, the retooled Kazbar will supplement a slimmed-down list of 100 wines with more than 500 whiskeys from around the world.
The venue, located on the northeast corner of Stetson and Sixth Avenue, will feature new furniture, paint, and décor, as well as a new VIP area and lockers where guests can store their high-end whiskey.
A new food menu – yet to be unveiled – will be served until closing every night.
Also new will be live music. Local jazz legend Dennis Rowland and Diana Lee will perform on opening night.
