After 33 years in a Tempe industrial park, the original Spinato’s Pizza is moving to a larger, more high-profile space. But it won’t be going very far – just a little over a block.
The family-run, Chicago-style pizzeria announced it will close its hole-in-the-wall location on Smith Road, about a half-block south of Tempe Marketplace, this Sunday, Feb. 3.
It plans to reopen Monday, Feb. 18, on the north side of Rio Salado Parkway, just east of the marketplace and the Hilton Garden Inn.
The new Spinato’s will be 5,700 square feet, approximately three times the size as the original, and seat 190 people.
Like its locations in Ahwatukee and central Phoenix, the reworked Tempe one will feature an expanded kitchen menu and a bar that serves alcohol.
Spinato’s has a total of five locations in the Valley.
