Hamachi Asian Bistro & Sushi is the latest restaurant to try its luck in the much-turned-over space behind Burger King on the northwest corner of Country Club and the U.S. 60 in Mesa.
Previous occupants of the strip-mall space included Nunthaporn Thai (which moved to downtown Mesa), Mango Thai, Henry’s Private Kitchen, and, most recently, Beijing Noodle House, which closed last fall.
Hamachi’s menu offers a wide range of stir-fry dishes, such as vegetable fried rice ($6.50), kung pao chicken ($9.50), Mongolian beef ($10.50), and crispy walnut shrimp (S11.50).
On the sushi side, there are 17 nigiri selections ($4-$7), 13 sashimi ($8-$14), and 26 rolls ($5-$12).
Lunch specials, available 11 a.m.-3 p.m., are $8.50 for kitchen dishes and $8-$14.50 from the sushi bar.
Hamachi is open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday and closed Mondays.
