Israeli-born burger concept Burgerim makes AZ debut in south Gilbert

Burgerim, one of the world’s fastest-growing burger chains, has opened its first Arizona restaurant on the northeast corner of the Santan Freeway and Gilbert in Gilbert (map).

The restaurant, whose name means ‘‘many burgers’’ in Hebrew, sells burgers made with 3-ounce patties – larger than a slider but smaller than a typical burger – in a choice of beef, dry-aged beef, wagyu beef, merguez (spicy beef), turkey, chicken, chiro, salmon, or veggie.

Diners can customize their burgers with options of two different buns, seven different toppings, and nine different sauces. Other menu items include salads, chicken wings, circular fries, and onion rings.

Burgerim was founded in Tel Aviv in 2011, but is now based in California. It has nearly 400 locations worldwide, including 80 in the U.S. It ‘s opening 20-25 new restaurants every month.

A second Arizona location is planned on the northeast corner of Broadway and Roosevelt in west Tempe. A third location is being built in Peoria.

Burgerim Gilbert is open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Satuday-Sunday.
