Rusty Taco, a Dallas-born chain of fast-food taco shops, makes its Arizona debut at 11 a.m. today on the southwest corner of Santan Village Parkway and Williams Field (map) near the SanTan Village shopping center in Gilbert.
The concept was founded by Russell “Rusty” Fenton in 2010. After Fenton died in 2013, the chain was bought by Buffalo Wild Wings, which changed the name to R Taco in 2015.
Buffalo Wild Wings then was bought by Arby’s Restaurant Group, which changed the name back to Rusty Taco in late 2018. The concept has grown to 31 locations in eight states.
Rusty Taco’s menu offers more than a dozen kinds of street tacos, including picadillo (spicy ground beef), beef and chicken fajitas, BBQ brisket, anchiote pork, grilled shrimp, and fried chicken.
There also are eight breakfast tacos that are served all day.
Unlike most fast-food restaurants, Rusty Taco serves beer and margaritas.
Rusty Taco is open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.
