Organizer decides to discontinue AmeriCan Canned Craft Beer Festival

After eight years, one of Arizona’s premier craft beer festivals is no more. The organizer has announced the AmeriCan Canned Craft Beer Festival has been discontinued.

A message on the festival’s website and social media reads:

‘‘After much consideration and due to accessibility of craft cans, we no longer feel that this event is necessary in the market. We’ve achieved our goal of educating the public about canning and aluminum awareness. Together we have done a great job of pioneering and educating the industry and the consumer on the benefits of canning.

‘‘Thank you for your participation in helping us to celebrate the canned craft beer revolution over the past eight years.

‘‘Long Live the Can!’’

The festival featured canned craft beers from just 40 breweries when it debuted in downtown Chandler in 2011.

The following year it relocated to Scottsdale and then a couple of years later to Phoenix, where more than 100 breweries from 40 states participated last year.

This year’s event had been scheduled April 27 at Margaret T. Hance Park in Phoenix.
