Shake Shack, the popular New York City-based chain of fast-casual burger eateries, finally is coming to the East Valley.
The location will be built in the SanTan Village shopping center on the northeast corner of SanTan Village Parkway and Williams Field in Gilbert.
The 3,100-square-foot building will have an 800-square-foot patio.
Shake Shack’s menu features all-natural Angus beef burgers, chicken sandwiches, griddled flat-top dogs, crinkle-cut fries, and frozen custard.
Shake Shack began as a hot dog cart in New York City in 2001. It moved into a permanent stand and added burgers and the namesake shakes to its menu in 2004.
Today, it’s one of the country’s fastest-growing restaurant chains with more than 200 locations worldwide.
The first Arizona location opened in Scottsdale in 2016. There currently are two locations in Scottsdale and two in Phoenix, including one at Sky Harbor.
The Gilbert location is expected to open late this year.
