Now open: Philly’s Sports Grill launches 4th E.V. location in south Tempe

Philly’s Sports Grill, a longtime East Valley sports bar, has opened its fourth location on the southeast corner of McClintock and Elliot in south Tempe.

It takes over the strip-mall space that previously was home to Flanny’s Bar & Grill, which closed at the end of February.

The original Philly’s opened on the southwest corner of Scottsdale and McKellips in north Tempe in 1995.

The current owners bought it in 2002 and added locations near Priest and Broadway in north Tempe in 2014 and 48th Street and Warner in Ahwatukee in 2015.

The namesake cheesesteaks take center stage on Philly’s large menu. Eight different types ($9.95-$11.29) are available, including the Traditional with white American cheese and the Original with grilled onions and Cheez Whiz.

There are seven salads ($7.29-$13.49), eight burgers ($9.99-$11.99), five sliders ($9.49-$10.49), seven sandwiches (9.29-$11.49), and 10- and 14-inch pizzas (starting at $7.99 and $10.99, respectively).

Dinner entrees range from a chili mac ’n’ cheese skillet ($9.99) to Milagro Tequila chicken pasta ($12.79) to Korean tacos ($11.49).

Philly’s Sports Grill in south Tempe opens at 11 a.m. daily.
