Gadzooks Enchiladas & Soup, a local fast-casual concept offering a customizable menu of enchiladas, opens its third Valley restaurant at 11 a.m. today on University just west of Mill in downtown Tempe.
The remodeled building, formerly a non-profit youth center, is situated between Oregano’s Pizza Bistro and Top’s Liquor.
Brothers Aaron and Jared Pool debuted Gadzooks in midtown Phoenix in 2013 and added a second location in Arcadia in 2016.
“Gadzooks originally started as an idea in one of my business classes at ASU, so it felt natural to bring Gadzooks back to its roots in Tempe,” Aaron Pool says.
Besides enchiladas, the menu includes tacos, salads, and two soups – tortilla and spicy potato corn chowder.
Craft beers (a third pool brother, Drew, is a co-owner of Wren House Brewing) and cocktails are available.
To celebrate the grand opening, 10 random people waiting in line when the doors open at 11 a.m. today will win free enchiladas for a year.
Gadzooks’ hours are 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday.
A second East Valley location soon will open on the northwest corner of Arizona and Frye near downtown Chandler.
