Brat Haus applies for liquor license for 2nd location on 16th Street in Phoenix

Brat Haus, a sausage-and-beer joint in Old Town Scottsdale, has applied for a liquor license for a north Phoenix location.

Launched in July 2012 by restaurateur Dave Andrea and chef Payton Curry, the concept is loosely modeled on a German beer hall.

In the case of Brat Haus, however, the custom-made sausages include such flavors as duck and sun-dried tomato, Southwestern bison, rosemary chicken, and lamb and goat curry.

The taps offer 28 craft beers.

The Phoenix location is a former Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop, which closed last month on the northeast corner of 16th Street and Bethany Home.

A couple of spinoffs of Brat Haus have proven unsuccessful. Taco Haus closed after sixth months in 2014, and Smokehaus closed after less than six months in 2016.

Brat Haus will host its annual SausageFest at noon Saturday, April 28.
