Gourmet Deli Chandler to close Sunday after nearly 5 years in business

By Jess Harter Friday, April 26, 2019

Gourmet Deli Chandler, a European-inspired eatery and shop on the southwest corner of Alma School and Germann in south Chandler, will close its doors this Sunday, April 28.

The deli opened in December 2014, but owner Émilie Frances Foote (pictured) says she couldn’t commit to signing another 5-year lease.

‘‘I’m not quite sure yet where I will be – I’m going to be taking some time off – but I will be somewhere back in a kitchen,’’ she says in a video posted to social media.

The deli, originally named Carlo and Emilie’s Gourmet Deli, was a partnership between Carlo Ventura, a 60-something Italian chef, and the 20-something Frances Foote, who’s from France.

The business still has a number of retail food items for sale on its shelves. Frances Foote says prices will be 30% off this weekend.
