Matt’s Big Breakfast, the popular breakfast and lunch eatery, is opening a new location on the southwest corner of Scottsdale and Thunderbird in Scottsdale this fall.
“Scottsdale was hungry,†owner Matt Pool says. “Local fans have even submitted suggestions on vacant spots for us to take over.â€
Pool and his wife, Erenia Lara, debuted their concept in an 800-square-foot brick building in downtown Phoenix in 2004.
The restaurant’s made-from-scratch breakfast classics soon generated long lines of hungry diners, prompting a move to a larger location a half-block away in 2012.
The restaurant has been featured everywhere from the pages of the New York Times to the Food Network’s ‘‘Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.’’
In 2014, Matt’s expanded with a location at Sky Harbor. It added others near the Biltmore and in Tempe in 2016.
The Scottsdale location will be the restaurant’s first franchise.
