Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom officially opens at 11 a.m. today in the Chandler Crossroads Towne Center on the northwest corner of Gilbert and Germann in Chandler.
The national chain once operated several locations in the East Valley, but in recent years that number had dwindled to just one – at Alma School and U.S. 60 in Mesa – that closed in December.
The new restaurant, which had a soft opening over the weekend, takes over the former El Palacio Mexican Restaurant & Cantina, which closed in January 2018.
Old Chicago’s parent company, Boulder, Colo.-based CraftWorks Restaurants & Breweries, also owns the Gordon Biersch and Rock Bottom brewery restaurant chains.
Besides pizzas and calzones, Old Chicago’s menu features burgers, sandwiches, fish and chips, wings, and pasta dishes.
The bar has 40 beers on tap, including 15 from Arizona.
Hours are 11 a.m.-midnight Sunday-Tuesday and 11 a.m.-1 a.m. Wednesday-Saturday.
Happy hour is 3-6 p.m. weekdays and 10 p.m.-close daily.
