Serrano’s to launch device-free dinners for families on Thursdays

By Jess Harter Wednesday, May 22, 2019

Serrano’s Mexican Restaurants is launching #DeviceFreeDinner – a voluntary foregoing of phones, electronic games, and other distractions – from 5-9 p.m. Thursdays starting May 31.

The concept was developed by the non-profit Common Sense to help parents connect with their children without electronic distractions.

“Our family is celebrating 100 years in business this year and we are taking the opportunity to truly get back to our roots, which are centered around faith, family and food,” says Serrano’s president Ric Serrano.

During the promotion hours, families can enjoy half off children’s meals ($2.49 for kids younger than 10) such as nachos, cheese enchiladas, bean and cheese burros, chicken fingers, hamburgers, and a drink.

In addition, the restaurants will provide cards with ‘‘conversation starters’’ for families.

Serrano’s has five locations in the East Valley.
